Mifare DESFire EV1 smart card (01-005)

Invented by the small company Mikron in 1994, the MIFARE technology very quickly conquered the market of contactless cards, thanks to which it was bought by the PHILIPS company already in 1998. This technology is based on the ISO14443A standard and operates at a frequency of 13.56 MHz.

The Mifare Desfire EV1 card carries a UID (UID) - a unique identifier, as well as additional rewritable memory.

Mifare DESFire EV1 contactless smart cards are based on the NXP MF3ICDx chip (21 | 41 | 81). The memory capacity of such cards can be 2, 4 and 8 KB.

The main advantage of DESFire cards over Mifare Classic cards is security. These cards support DES, 2KTDES, 3KTDES and AES128 encryption, fully supporting ISO14443A protocols (parts 1-4). The microcontroller of the DESFire cards is certified at the Common Criteria EAL4 + level, which indicates a higher degree of protection.

The features of the card data include on-chip backup management and three-factor authentication. This allows you to store up to 28 different applications and 32 files for each application in the file system of the card.

Mifare Desfire EV1 contactless card is intended for: organization of access to premises (hospitals, institutes, schools, hotels, sanatoriums, state institutions) and places of rest (hotels, attractions), to automatic parking lots and parking lots; keys for accounting and access control systems (ACC); accounting for the route of the movement of employees (managers, drivers, sales representatives, etc.); making a pass into the premises of access control and accounting of working hours in commercial organizations and industrial facilities; payment for travel in public transport; payment for travel on toll highways; payments for services and goods (small amounts).

MIfare DESFire cards have been widely used in projects for payment of transport, and this is more than 60 cities. In some countries, these maps are a national standard. DESFire cards are also used in access control systems where security is a top priority.
