NAS QNap TS-230

The company Qnap Systems introduced the "light, quiet and multifunctional" TS-230 NAS server for home use. According to the manufacturer, the blue-colored device fits well into residential interiors. It can serve as a means of centralized storage and backup of files, sharing of photos and videos. And the availability of multimedia applications and the transcoding function allows you to use the TS-230 as an entertainment center.

The basis of the TS-230 is a quad-core processor Realtek RTD1296, which operates at a frequency of 1.4 GHz and has 2 GB of DDR4 RAM. The storage has two bays for 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives with a SATA 6 Gbit/s interface. It supports AES-256 encryption and SSD caching. Installing and removing hard drives requires no tools. The storage units are cooled by an 80 mm fan, the noise level of which does not exceed 15 dBA. In addition to the Gigabit Ethernet network port, there are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and one USB 2.0 port.

The storage is managed by the QTS operating system, which implements file storage and sharing, backup, synchronization and data protection. Users can regularly back up Windows or macOS data while using the HBS app to back up NAS data to the cloud. It is possible to create several versions of snapshots, which speeds up data recovery over a certain period. Among the capabilities of QTS, the manufacturer singles out the functions of Qfiling for automatic organization of files, Qsirch for quickly searching for specific files or images by keyword or color, Qsync for synchronizing files between several devices.
