Easily add 5 additional drives to your Synology DiskStation. The DX517 is an expansion device with 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drive bays that allows for non-disruptive volume expansion and can also serve as a local backup destination.

Operational expansion of volumes

After connecting, additional drives in the DX517 are immediately ready for work. They are managed in DiskStation Manager on the NAS host server. Volume expansion occurs immediately - the operation of your storage and services on the host server is not interrupted.

Support for the technology of "hot" replacement of discs in the tray

Support for "hot" swapping in the DX517 trays allows easy installation and replacement of drives without the need to turn off system power. The design with screwless fastening allows to reduce the time required for setting up the system.

Synology DX517 can also be used as a dedicated local backup solution for Synology DiskStation. If the DX517 system is configured as a separate volume, it is an excellent solution for backing up data to its local hard drives in the event of a system failure.
