The cartridge chip contains information that allows the device to correctly identify the cartridge and reuse it. Data about the current state of the cartridge are recorded in the cartridge chip: the number of printed pages, the level of toner consumption, etc. When the counters reach the specified value, the printer makes such a record in the cartridge chip that does not allow using the cartridge even if there is toner in it. Installing a new chip allows you to refill the cartridges and reuse the cartridges - this significantly reduces printing costs.
