The photo drum is a very important component of copiers and laser printers. It is with its help that toner is applied to a sheet of paper during printing. Structurally, the photo drum is a metal cylinder (usually aluminum) covered with a layer of photoconductive material — a dielectric, the electrical resistance of which drops sharply under the influence of light radiation. The photo drum is designed to form on a photosensitive surface first - a hidden electrostatic image of the document (exposure), and then - obtaining a visible image (manifestation) formed by toner particles and, then, transferring this image to paper. As a result, an image appears on paper, the same as the light illuminated on the photo drum. The photo drum is characterized by high reliability, long service life and ease of maintenance.
