The Viewcon DisplayPort to HDMI cable (VD 119-1.8m) is designed for the simultaneous transmission of high-resolution digital video data and multi-channel digital audio signals.
DisplayPort is a signal interface standard for digital displays.
Technology implemented in DisplayPort allows simultaneous transmission of both graphic and audio signals. The main difference from HDMI is a wider channel for data transmission (10.8 Gbit/s instead of 10.2 Gbit/s).
Currently, DisplayPort (with reduced Mini DisplayPort connectors) is the standard for new products in the Apple Macintosh family. Apple monitors of the latest generation (Apple LED Cinema Display) support only DisplayPort input. MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air computers have a DisplayPort output to which a DVI or VGA monitor can also be connected via a special adapter.
