Building an effective cable system is impossible without checking the quality of the line at each new section.
And in the further work of an already fully functioning network, situations also regularly arise when it is necessary to test the signal.
This task falls on a special device, which was called a cable line tester.
Conventionally, cable testers are divided into simple models with a basic set of functions and more complex devices, the capabilities of which allow you to check a line with a wide variety of parameters.
A standard RJ 45 cable tester is a device consisting of two parts - a main module and a remote module.
The main, larger module (it is also called an active base) is denoted by the word "master", and the remote (passive transceiver) - "remote".
In order to test the cable, one of its crimped ends is inserted into the main module of the tester, the other end must be inserted into the remote module.
On each module there are indicators corresponding to each conductor in the cable (there are eight of them in total, respectively), as well as a grounding indicator marked with the letter "G".
