The Vario-Sonnar T 24-70 mm F2.8 ZA SSM II lens has two aspherical lenses and two low-dispersion (ED) glass elements as part of a precision optical scheme that provides a high level of contrast and excellent resolution. The basic optical design has remained unchanged relative to the original scheme, which in terms of optical characteristics is comparable to the quality of discrete lenses and provides high image quality.

Aspherical optical elements require more resources to manufacture compared to conventional spherical lenses. However, with an accurate calculation of the optical scheme, they cope with various types of optical aberration and reduce them to a minimum. This lens is equipped with two aspherical lenses that take the optical performance of this lens to a new level.
