The updated USB 3.0 data transfer standard provides 10 times higher transfer speed data compared to USB 2.0, as well as increased current from 500 mA to 900 mA. All USB 3.0 type A plug and socket connectors are fully compatible with the corresponding USB 2.0 type A connectors.
