TheSoundcraft EPM's emphasis is on build quality and sound quality, with an easy-to-understand control surface uncluttered by unnecessary features, and Soundcraft has brought new technology and ideas to this very economical range. Surface mount technology is used throughout, using components with tight tolerances for high precision and reproducible EQ settings and gain controls. The transparent GB30 mic amplifier (designed by Graham Blyth for the company's 30th anniversary and also used on the large LX7ii and GB series consoles) has high-resolution control over a wide gain range of 55dB and provides a stunning +22dB level headroom through the console. This professional 48V phantom power supply is suitable for all types of condenser microphones.
A unique signal monitoring feature is the PEAK LED on each input channel. It uses multi-point signal spikes to monitor congestion in several parts of the channel bandwidth, and the LED flashes brighter as the signal approaches the peak point. For smooth and precise channel control, the EPM features the same high quality 60mm faders used on other Soundcraft consoles. Output to monitors and output to headphones work in parallel, so performers can listen to the composition in headphones while the engineer listens to it on studio monitors.
