The Primary Charge Roller (PCR) is a part of the laser cartridge that evenly presses against the photo drum and transfers a uniform negative charge to it. After passing the paper medium through the photo drum, the primary charge shaft neutralizes the final preliminary charge of the photo drum. The primary charge shaft consists of a metal rod on which a layer of conductive foam or rubber is applied. This part of the laser cartridge is quite susceptible to contamination with paper dust, so it must be regularly and carefully cleaned.
